On Apr. 1, SWE PRL issued an act that applies to currency exchange.
SWE PRL published Law 2025:250 on currency exchanges which refers to professional trading in banknotes, coins and traveller's cheques in foreign currency.
Summary
Only payment institutions, electronic money institutions and credit institutions and branches of corresponding foreign companies may engage in currency exchange.
A person who engages in currency exchange shall clearly communicate the applicable exchange rates and charges, and provide a settlement note indicating the name of the institution or branch, the bid and offer prices and fees.
The information to be provided pursuant to section 3 shall be considered material for the purposes of applying section 10, third paragraph, of the Marketing Act (2008:486).
Sections 29-36 on market disturbance fees do not apply in absence of sufficient info.
Effectiveness
This Act shall enter into force on Jul. 1, 2025.
