On Mar. 25, ESMA confirmed extension of CCP recognition decisions.
ESMA announced decision to extend application of recognition decisions under article 25 of EMIR (regulation (EU) 648/2012) for the 3 CCPs established in United Kingdom.
Follows ESMA Sep. 2020 announced recognition of ICE CEU, LCH, LME, see #87108.
Also follows ESMA Dec. 2021 recommendation regarding Tier 2 CCPs, see #124694.
Recognition Extension
On Mar. 22, 2022, ESMA amended recognition and tiering determination decisions in respect of 3 recognized UK CCPs – ICE Clear Europe Ltd, LCH Ltd and LME Clear Ltd.
To align with EC decision 2022/174 adopted by EC on Feb. 8, 2022, see #128693.
Accordingly, the application of the recognition decisions and tiering determination decisions in respect of ICE Clear Europe Ltd, LCH Ltd (as Tier 2 CCPs) and LME Clear Ltd (as a Tier 1 CCP) has been temporarily extended until Jun. 30, 2025.
