On Jun. 19, 2023, NLD GVT issued decree extending the term of effect of the rules of conduct for government in Competition Act from Jul. 1, 2023 to Jul. 1, 2025.
NLD EZK issued draft decree amending the decree of Jan. 31, 2017, extending the duration of the rules of conduct for the government in the competition act.
Follows NLD EZK May 2022 issued memo re competition act changes, see #138604.
Purpose
On Dec. 7, 2021, the bill to amend the competition act in connection with the adjustment of the provisions on market and government was submitted to NLD PRL.
It included the withdrawal of art IV of the market and government act sunset provision, which means that the temporary nature of competition act's ch 4b will lapse.
However, progress on the bill has been delayed and it may not enter into force before the date on which the market and government act expires by law, namely Jul. 1, 2023.
To prevent a situation arising in which no regulations regarding market and government apply, namely because the current regulations have expired.
And the legislative proposal has not yet entered into force, the draft decree provides that the current regs will continue to apply for the time being until the bill passes.
Effectiveness
The extension of the competition act will be valid until Jul. 1, 2025.
