VA LEG passed bill HB 1766/SB 1056 in order to amend VA FIN 602-6-2-60.2-602, Weekly benefit amount, to increase weekly unemployment compensation benefits.
Bill Provisions
An eligible individual's weekly unemployment compensation benefit amount shall be $100 higher than the current weekly benefit amount, for claims on/after Jan. 1, 2026.
Commission on Unemployment Compensation to convene work group to study making annual adjustments to weekly benefit amounts based on the average weekly wage.
Once effective, weekly unemployment compensation paid for a maximum of 26 weeks.
