Bill Provisions
HB 5159 seeks to close loopholes in health care market regulatory process, expands scope of data collection and public review of health care and health care transactions.
Prohibits DPH from issuing hospital licenses to hospitals or systems where the main acute care campus is located on Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT)-owned property.
Increases transparency around health care entities and ownership, data sharing requirements, participation in regulatory process to nontraditional healthcare entities.
Also includes provision establishing primary care task force which will study primary care access, delivery and payment, and develop recommendations to stabilize system.
