BRZ IPO informed that World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) approved its proposal, Filing Medium of International Applications, to improve digitized applications.
Specifically, digitized applications of the WIPO"s International patent system (PCT).
Proposal Highlights
Optimizes the process of digitizing orders in the international phase of the PCT.
Upon its implementation, receiving offices, such as BRZ IPO, will have three options.
First, continue to allow filings in paper or electronic format; second, start accepting only filings in electronic format, offering the WIPO as an option for receiving it.
Allow paper filings but require filing in electronic format within a period of two months.
Jan. 15, 2025 BRZ IPO PCT Filings
On Jan. 15, 2025, BRZ IPO announced changes to International patent system (PCT).
As of Jul. 1, 2025, PCT filings in e-format will only be received through e-PCT system.
Those who prefer international deposit on paper must do it directly at WIPO Bureau.

On Mar. 18, 2025, BRZ IPO announced e-PCT international filing to begin Jul. 1, 2025.
